Elderberry and Fig Butter Recipe

Whipped Elderberry Syrup & Fig Butter

The perfect addition to your holiday festivities

This delightful recipe is a fusion of flavors and colors that will wrap your taste buds up into a cozy holiday mood. Just 15 minutes and 3 ingredients are all you need for an easy, ready-to-go velvety butter recipe. Plus, it can be prepared in advance and stored in the fridge, so no stress here!

Elderberry syrup is thick with a slight sweet and tart luscious essence. Combining the fruitiness of the elderberry and savory of the butter can be an unexpected surprise at the holiday table ... and this combination is a good kind of surprise providing immune supporting* benefits to a season full of sniffles and overindulging.

One of the amazing things about Sambucol Black Elderberry Syrup is the berry itself. Grown in the nutrient-rich soil of Central Europe, these elderberries are the highest in flavonoid compounds called anthocyanins which give the berries their dark color. In fact, their anthocyanin level is nearly double the amount in any other fruit! These compounds provide an extremely high level of antioxidants which can help support our immune systems* when consumed.

The best part is that you can purchase these high quality berries right here and store a few elderberry syrups in the pantry to pop into smoothies, jams, chutneys and holiday recipes.

The small details make a huge difference.

Table butter is an essential at any holiday get together and the beauty of this charming recipe is you can get as creative as you like just by adding black elderberry syrup, or other elements like cranberry, cinnamon, walnuts or figs. If you are using figs, keep the skin on to pack this recipe with even more flavonoids and fiber.

Spread this creamy goodness onto holiday biscuits and sweet corn, or let it melt into mashed potatoes (sweet potatoes too!). Add to an appetizer platter or a topper on warm apple pie and ice cream. This light purple ombré of sweet antioxidants is one that will be the star of the season and holiday tablescape. We hope this recipe brings you as much joy as it does for us!

  • 3 sticks non-salted butter (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup Sambucol Black Elderberry Syrup
  • 3 – 5 Figs chopped in half

A little goes a long way, so just ¼ cup for this serving size is perfect. Mix all ingredients at slow speed for 1 minute until blended. Then whip at medium speed for 1 minute until it starts to get lighter in texture and color. Then whip at high speed for 30 seconds. If you prefer a more ombré color then mix at medium speed for 30 seconds only. Place into small serving cups and use same day at room temperature. If you prefer, roll into a butter log in plastic wrap and set in the fridge. Cut into slices and enjoy!
